Q. CAN I JUST BRING MY CHILD TO THE SCHOOL AND REGISTER THEM?
A.) No. District approval is needed in order to enroll a student at our school. You, the parent, should have received some notification of approval through a letter in the mail or phone call.
Q. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WHEN REGISTERING MY CHILD?
A.) You will need to bring a bill (which lists a current address) or some other form of identification that lists your current address (in addition to your license). It will also be helpful if you bring the correspondence from the district indicating the student being assigned to our school.
Q. WILL THERE BE BUS TRANSPORTATION?
A.) Yes. A bus will be provided when we receive the student’s current residential address. A bus stop will be given that is within the vicinity. If the bus stop is too far away from the residence, please allow some time for the modification of routes.
Q. DOES THE SCHOOL HAVE A DRESS CODE?
A.) Yes. You will receive documentation stating the dress code. There are no shorts to be worn by students at the school. Students will wear polo shirts either black, gold, or white. Pants will be khaki or black colored pants or blue jeans. Pants must be worn above the waist. There are no hats or book bags allowed.
Q. WHAT ABOUT SCHOOL LUNCH?
A.) If you receive free or reduced school lunch at your current school, you should be able to receive the same services at our school. If you have not filled out a free or reduced lunch form, one will be provided.
Q. WHAT’S THE SCHEDULE LIKE?
A.) MacArthur South has an 8 period day in a block scheduling format. The days have been divided A and B. A-Day is 1,3,5,7 and B-Day is 2,4,6,8. The classes are approximately 90 min. in length.
Q. WHEN WILL THE STUDENT BE ABLE TO RETURN TO HIS OR HER HOME SCHOOL?
A.) That depends on the level of infraction. The district will send out a letter informing the parent of the type of assignment.
Q. CAN I VOLUNTARILY GO TO MIAMI MACARTHUR SOUTH?
A.) Students can voluntarily attend Miami MacArthur South when approved by the district. Students, parents, and administrators need to fill out the correct forms in order for the district to approve the student assignment.
Q. ARE THERE ANY SPORTS?
A.) No. Currently, there are no sports program at our school.
Q. ARE THERE PROGRAMS FOR ADVANCEMENT?
A.) Florida Virtual School is available for all of those students who wish to take additional course work. Furthermore, Edgenuity is provided for students who need to make up lost credit.
Q. CAN I GRADUATE FROM MIAMI MACARTHUR SOUTH?
A.) Yes. Seniors who attend our school are provided with a graduation ceremony at the end of the year.
